The Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE) is part of the campus of the Space Applications Centre (SAC) at Jodhpur Tekra. It offers an insight into the space research initiatives of India.

Vikram Sarabhai spearheaded India’s space research. In 1969, he founded the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to provide the nation with space-based services and to develop the technologies to achieve the objectives of space research.

The SAC at Ahmedabad works for the development of spaceborne and airborne instruments and their applications. SAC also contributes to the scientific and planetary missions of ISRO like Chandrayaan-1 and Mars Orbiter Mission.

This museum offers an insight into India’s space research and missions. The museum has interactive exhibits like working models that enable children to understand the working of different instruments and their applications.

Walking through the museum visitors can see informative panels about various aspects of the space sciences and India’s own initiatives for space research. Several models and prototypes exhibited here include those of satellites, launch vehicles and rockets that represent India’s missions like Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan.

The instruments used in satellites, components and spare parts are also on display. This museum is a must-visit for an interactive and educational experience for children. The museum has a theatre and an auditorium. They also have a mobile exhibition that travels to different places.

Major attractions of the museum include a 3D auditorium, light and sound show on solar system, Augmented Reality and 3D holographic display and even a flight suit! You can also get your questions answered by the veteran scientists of ISRO during your visits.
