Built to protect the citadel and citizens of Ahmedabad, Raipur Gate is one of the gates that created a perfect shield over the city. Ahmed Shah-I created a large and broad wall along the city's perimeter, which was intended to keep the citizens safe. Now, this gate has become a major landmark of the city, having the nearby area named after it.
